Watch out for those of you who were Android users. It is because assistant professor in Xuxian Jiang and his team from NCSU Department of Computer Science (North CarolinaState University) has discovered a new beast malware virus. The Virus Malware which called as Ginger Master will sends information of your mobile phones such IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity), IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity), your phone number and other data parameters to some less responsible parties.
Worse then, Ginger Master is able to strike basic systems and programs on your devices. This virus also disguised as .PNG files so it is very difficult to find it especially if your devices is full with pictures files. Similar as usual virus and malware on Android, Ginger Master has pinned on unofficial application. This malicious application can be obtained through free application on website which circulating on cyberspace. However, it does not mean that Android Market also 100% free from virus and malware. It is because if you remember the massive virus attacks in early this year is came from an application from Android Market. Users who still use the first edition of Android 2.3 Gingerbread and didn’t have the upgrades for newer version (2.3.5), or users of Android Froyo 2.2 will be very vulnerable with Ginger Master. It’s time to more be careful.
