Co-CEO of Research in Motion (RIM) Mike Lazaridis announces the new name for the generation of device operating systems are made for the smart phone, the BBX OS. In the future,  BBX OS will likely be used for the BlackBerry.

Described Lazaridis, BBX combines the best qualities of older operating systems RIM BlackBerry and QNX platforms, which have previously been used in tablet Playbook, as well as re-designed to provide collaboration and productivity experience of real-time mobile is perfect with present products and services that differ from BlackBerry.

The BBX platform will include  BBX-OS, and will support the BlackBerry cloud services as well as a development environment for developers and for developers HTML5 natively. BBX will support all applications that have been made by utilizing the current development of the BlackBerry Playbook – Native SDK, Adobe AIR / Flash and WebWorks/HTML5 and Android Java – both on the Playbook and the BlackBerry smartphone that will run BBX platform.

BBX will also include the BlackBerry Cascades, a new UI framework for advanced display (shown first time today) and the present ability “Super App” to support a variety of innovative capabilities including deep integration between applications, always-on Push service, fuel and Social Platform are still many more.

In addition RIM also introduced the beta version of OS 2.0 developer Playbook. This means that users Playbook is one step closer to getting major update for their tablets. Playbook OS 2.0 will come with a set of tools that will let Android application developers can move to the BlackBerry platform Playbook Runtime BlackBerry Apps for Android, BlackBerry Plug-In for the Android Development Tools (ADT) for Android and BlackBerry Apps Packager.
